Self
Reflection
Today,
I learn about the indicator species in ecosystem. The indicator species is the
species that can be the parameter of the environmental condition. The indicator
species can signal a change in the biological condition of a particular
ecosystem, and thus may be used as a proxy to diagnose the health of an
ecosystem. For example, plants or lichens sensitive to heavy metals or acids in
precipitation may be indicators of air pollution. Indicator species can also
reflect a unique set of environmental qualities or characteristics found in a
specific place.
I also learn about the condition and resources in ecosystem.
Condition is Physicochemical features of the environment that may be altered by
the activities of living organisms, but not consumed. The example of conditions are temperature,
relative humidity, pH, salinity, current velocity, soil structure and pollutant
concentration. While resource is quantities of something that can reduced by
the activities of a living organism during its growth and development. The
example of resources are solar
radiation, inorganic materials - CO2, water, oxygen, mineral
nutrients (macro-, micronutrients), food, and space.
The subject that I learned today was exciting so I like to study
again about the kind of the relation about the condition and the resource of
some organism.
